Sunitha is a World Music Composer and Singer accomplished in the art of singing Kannada Bhavageete & Ghazals. As a child, Sunitha grew up in an environment surrounded by music and poetry. She is the daughter of the famous Mysore Ananthaswamy, the pioneer of Sugama Sangeeta in Karnataka who has left an indelible mark with his numerous compositions. Her father being her first music Guru, she has also received training in Hindustani classical music under gurus, Pt. DB Harindra and Pt. Rajeev Taranath. As a composer she has more than 100 released & unreleased compositions to her credit. She has given many performances in India and in major US cities. An All India Radio and Doordarshan artist, she gave her first stage performance with her father when she was 13 and has accompanied him in many performances all over Karnataka and in many Indian and US cities. A talented composer, she can play instruments like Harmonium, Keyboard, Guitar and Mandolin.
Education & Experience: Sunitha has a master’s degree in English Literature and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Bengaluru University. She has worked as an anchor for Bengaluru Doordarshan and contributed articles for Indian Express, Deccan Herald and The City. Her biographical articles about her father was compiled and recently released as a book with the title ‘nanna aNa’ (My Father). With her passion for journalism combined with her previous experience in the media she continues to take up projects as and when time permits to produce a couple shows called ‘ The World Musician’, a show featuring World Music Artists ( this series aired on Channel 12 of Novi, Farmington and Farmington Hills) and Aha America about Kannadigas residing in North America.
Present: Her ongoing contribution to World music is noteworthy. For the past 25 years, in a home away from home, she has consistently been performing and teaching Music. She also collaborates and performs with musicians of all genres. Through her music organization, Shanti World Music whose motto is ‘bringing the world together with music’ she intends to d
