Buddhadev considers it as his motive to sustain the enriched culture of flute and to carry forward the legacy. Buddhadev takes pride in having the opportunity to receive an extensive learning from Pandit Samaresh Choudhury, the most renowned student of Pandit Ravi Shankar - the legend of Indian classical music, for more than 25 years by now. 

The reflection of authenticity and grandiose, often observed in his way of imbibing the classical gyaki style in his playing of flute, is basically rooted in the Rampursheni gharana. Besides having won many prestigious awards and accolades, Buddhadev has also been awarded the Gold Medal in the most remarkable Sangeet Praveen.  Belonging to an enriched musical background Buddhadev Chatterjee is a new horizon in the field of classical Flute.

He started his flute training under Late Prof. Deboprasad Banerjee ,Rabindra Bharati University , "Who was the milestone of Pannalal Ghosh style of flute playing in eastern India."  For the last two decades he is the most devoted Disciple of Pt.Samaresh Choudhury,the famous vocalist of Pt.Ravi Shankar style.

Coming from Rampur Sheni Gharana Buddhadev's speciality is on the gyaaki aang , unparalleled tonal production & own creation in flute playing is a rare treasure trove of classical music in flute. He has also achieved  "SANGEET  PRAVEEN " title from Prayag Sangit Samiti in 1980. He was awarded with gold medal in the process of enriching traditional classical music. 

He has been running a cultural centre affiliated under PRACHEN KALA KENDRA for 20 years.
